Embody Ashtanga Vinyasa

May 3 – 4, 2008
Saturday • 12 – 3 pm & 4 – 6 pm
Sunday • 10 am – 2 pm

About the Workshop
Explore the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa from a fully-embodied perspective and gain invaluable tools to deepen and enrich your practice for the rest of your life.

Karen and her teacher, Patty Townsend, have developed a way of modifying the Ashtanga Vinyasa practice for students of all shapes, sizes, and abilities. Embody Vinyasa Yoga is a unique expression of the practice that emphasizes physical safety and inner-connection. Each of us is different, and our practice changes over time. Whether you’re new to Ashtanga, or a veteran practitioner, come learn how to connect to your practice and yourself in a truly unique way.

• Learn “whole-body-support” templates that provide grace and  ease in this vigorous and exciting practice.

• Learn to modify the postures to fit you and eliminate injury!

• Develop a full-body connection to earth via the breath.

• Develop your own unique expression of the practice, using your breath as a catalyst and guide.

About the Teacher
Karen has studied yoga since 1985, and has been an avid practitioner of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as taught by Sri K Pattabhi Jois since 1999. She has studied extensively with Patty Townsend for the last 7 years, and has developed a way of translating the Embodyoga™ principles to a vinyasa format that is accessible and fun for everyone. She is currently teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa at the Yoga Center Amherst, where she teaches in the 200-and 500-hour Embodyoga™ Teacher Training Program, as well as teaching workshops, while maintaining an active bodywork practice that informs her teaching and practice.
